Evil Behemoth
2019
Lithograph
19.5 x 19.5 in. Edition of 50.

The Evil Behemoth print was done in the fall of 2019 at Landfall Press in Santa Fe with the assistance of Jack Lemon and Steve Campbell. The images are a combination of conflicting and contrasting sources. The background is a celestial sky of a zodiac constellation that consists of a dragon, bear and scorpion. There is a woman bound to a tree wearing a towering headdress suggesting a queenly status. The image is originally from a 15th century wood cut. A demon deity, The Evil Behemoth is accosting the woman in leering fashion. References to this monster are found in the histories of the Hebrew, Christian and Muslim faiths. Fate, chance and destiny may be in the stars or in the will of the woman to resist this symbol of darkness and evil.
